When we opened our doors at 1860 South Broadway in 1987, Santa Maria was a quieter place. The valley has grown β and so have we. But some things haven't changed.
The Porcher family opened the first Jiffy Lube on California's Central Coast right here in Santa Maria in 1987. What started as a single oil change shop on South Broadway has grown into eight locations across Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties β but this store will always be where it all began.
Today, our Santa Maria location employs over a dozen local technicians and service advisors, many of whom have been with us for years. They live in the valley, they raise their families here, and they take pride in being the people their neighbors trust with their vehicles.
Our ownership team β Sean Porcher and Cody Mead β still operate every location with the same philosophy they started with: provide the best customer service on the Central Coast, hire and develop great people, and use only quality products. It's a straightforward approach, and it's kept us going for nearly four decades.
We're not a corporate chain pretending to be local. Our team members coach youth sports, volunteer at the Elks Rodeo and Parade, and shop at the same stores you do. Santa Maria isn't just where we work β it's home.
Every team member follows our Career Path program from day one. We reimburse automotive education, offer health and dental benefits, 401(k), paid time off, and genuinely invest in helping our people build better lives for themselves and their families.
The Santa Maria Valley's agricultural economy depends on clean air and clean water. We take our role in emissions testing seriously β not just as a legal requirement, but as a responsibility to the land and the community that surrounds us.
Being part of the Jiffy Lube network means our technicians are trained to national standards, our equipment is kept current, and our processes follow industry best practices. But because we're locally owned, decisions are made right here on the Central Coast β not in some corporate office across the country.
That combination of professional standards and local accountability is what sets us apart from the independent shops and the big chains alike. When something isn't right, you can talk directly to the people who run the business.
And we mean it when we say: if you're not happy, we're not happy.
Our team is challenged to live by a simple set of principles that guide everything we do β from the way we greet you at the lane to the way we file your smog certificate with the state.
It starts here. Every interaction, every inspection, every phone call. If you walk out of our bay feeling like you were treated right, we've done our job. If you don't, we want to know about it so we can make it right.
Your time matters. That's why we've built our process around efficiency β most smog inspections are done in about 15 minutes. No unnecessary upsells, no drawn-out waits. Get in, get inspected, get on with your day.
Every technician follows the same procedures, uses the same equipment, and meets the same standards. Whether you come in on a Monday morning or a Saturday afternoon, you'll get the same level of care and attention.
We don't settle for adequate. Our team is trained to pursue excellence in everything β from the accuracy of our testing to the cleanliness of our facility to the way we explain your results. The goal is always to be great, not just good.
Over 37 years, we've built relationships that go beyond oil changes and smog checks. We're proud to support the community that has supported us.
Our team has been long-time supporters of the MDA's Central Coast chapter, helping transform the lives of people affected by neuromuscular disease through fundraising and awareness campaigns. It's a cause close to our hearts.
Many of our team members started with us as their first real job. Through our Career Path program, we've helped dozens of Santa Maria residents build careers in the automotive industry, earn certifications, and create stable futures for their families. We believe that investing in people is the best investment we can make.
When you pull into our bay on South Broadway, you're greeted by people who genuinely care about doing a good job. Many of our technicians and service advisors have been with us for years β some for over a decade.
They've earned their BAR licenses, completed advanced emissions training, and built real expertise in vehicle diagnostics. But more than that, they've built relationships with the families and businesses that depend on us.
We think there's something special about a place where the person inspecting your car today is the same person who inspected it two years ago. That kind of continuity builds trust β and trust is everything in this business.
